DEPARTMENTAL PROFILE
Of all human endeavors the founding of a centre of learning which is aimed at civilizing the people and there by enriching their cultural heritage is perhaps the most rewarding. Way back in 1914A.D, the decision taken by the then Madras Government to provide educational facilities to the people of Ceded Districts was an event of Historic significance. Ones this region had seen the glorious days of Vijayanagar Empire. Due to some Historical forces that were at play the region became backward and neglected. But with the inception of ceded districts college In 1916 a new chapter was opened .The aspiring youth of the region could look forward to the fulfillment of their cherished desire to resuscitate the broken tradition of enlightenment left behind by the vijayanagara rulers
BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT
From the inception of the college the department of History is functioning In the beginning History was start in combination with English Literature Logic And Telugu Literature as the time passed Department of History assumed most important place among the other subjects new sections were started with the fallowing combinations 1). History, Philosophy, English Literature. 2).History, Political science, Telugu Literature. 3).History, Political science, Hindi Litrature.4) History, English Literature, Communicative English. Subsequently when Telugu was made as medium of instruction all the above mentioned groups were offered in Telugu medium. At present the department offers the following Combinations (it caters to the need of a most 2000 students ). 1. History, Literature and Communicative English. 2) History, Telugu Literature and Political science.3) History, Hindi Literature and Political science.4) History, Journalism and Public Administration 5. History, Economics and Political science (Both Mediums). 6.Archaeology, History, and Economics(2017-18 onwards).
P.G. Course of History started in the academic year 2013-14 with different specialization papers.
